The Village

Renewing the Village is a community-wide movement to reposition Black Baton Rouge as the vibrant, healthy, and thriving environment in which to live, work, socialize and experience success.
This goal cannot be accomplished without mobilizing committed community members, building impactful partnerships, unleashing the full potential of the assets of the urban core, and putting forth a new narrative about Black neighborhoods and the people who live within them.

No longer can we accept, embrace and advance the deficit-based narratives that have been tied to inner-city neighborhoods and the people who live in them.
The most important word in the statement, “Renewing the Village” is without a doubt the word “village”.

Collective action is an absolute requirement for Renewing the Village.
