Baton Rouge, La. (November 30, 2020) — LaunchBR is impacting small businesses through the creation of catalytic partnerships, engaging and mobilizing business owners and providing support to local companies.
LaunchBR is a business development program that serves local companies, woman-owned, veteran owned, and minority owned businesses. They support businesses through coaching and training that is free or low-cost. LaunchBR also works to connect large procurers with local small businesses to enhance their community economically, socially and commercially.
Here are some numbers to quantify our impact…
- 250 people engaged,
- 167 small businesses served,
- $15.7M in contracts and spending,
- Started BR’s 1st procurement council,
- 14 large procurement partners.
BRPOP, LaunchBR worked with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC), EBR Fair Share and the Office of Mayor Sharon Weston Broome to create BRPOP, Baton Rouge’s 1st Procurement Council. Since its creation 1 year and 6mos ago, the council has grown to 14 partners working to support diversified spending and contract distribution in Baton Rouge.
MOVEBR was launched in July of 2019 and have since been supporting the program through leading the small business outreach team. This work focuses on increasing the capacity of smaller firms, making procurement adjustments that expand opportunities and maintaining a database of participants to participate in this 1 Billion dollar project.
The Green Technology Business Academy in partnership Jacobs Engineering & TruFund Financial is nearing the end of their 3rd cohort. The purpose of this academy is to increase the number of diverse vendors in the emerging market of Green Infrastructure Technology & Water Management. This program also offers a cash prize for winning the pitch competition.
