February is just a day away which means it is time to kick off our annual Black Futures Month celebration. While the rest of the world celebrates Black History Month, we’ve opted to view our history through the lens of Sankofa.
Sankofa means to “make benevolent use of the past in order to make progress in the future”. In other words, it is not too taboo to learn from the past or leverage its teachings in the present.
This Black Futures Month, we will be keeping with our 2023 theme of leadership and highlighting some current change agents in Baton Rouge who are utilizing their talents and skills to mobilize others and practice leadership today!
Keep up with the celebration by following us online!
