Sonjah Stith McKnight

Sonjah Stith McKnight is a seasoned nonprofit executive with over 20 years of experience in asset and fund development.  She has a proven ability to strategically plan and creatively fund solutions for social impact. Throughout her career, Ms. McKnight has held leadership positions in various non-profit organizations where she has managed donor relations, fundraising events, and strategic planning initiatives.

Most recently, Ms. McKnight served as the Director of Fund Development at the Baton Rouge Area Foundation from 2021 to 2023. In this role, she was responsible for identifying, engaging, and stewarding donors to increase visibility and support for the Foundation’s priorities. She also established new fund accounts with donors..

Prior to her role at the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Ms. McKnight worked as the Principal Nonprofit Consultant at Resources Strategies & Ventures in Philanthropy from 2007 to 2012. In this role, she managed client-centered work, led projects in strategic planning and capacity building, and analyzed complex organizational and social problems.  She also helped clients determine how to best use their resources to address complex social problems and make lasting change.
