The Urban Congress on African American Males is hosting the fourth annual General Convening, Saturday April 13 at the McKinley Alumni Center. The theme of the convening, “The Village Renewed,” is attributed to the continued pursuit of partnership and collaboration in the work of transforming social systems that negatively impact African American males in Baton Rouge. The Convening will feature speeches from esteemed dignitaries from the city (Mayor Sharon Weston Broome), the state (Gov. John Bel Edwards) and nationwide (Benjamin Evans of BMe Community). In addition there will be a panel discussion with the facilitators of the popular Barbershop Talk series and a special 2019 PaceSetter presentation to Jasiri Basel, Founder of The CEO Mind Foundation.
