On August 17th from 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Baton Rouge Community College’s Mid City Campus, the Presidents of Louisiana State University, Southern University, the Chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College, and the Superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish Schools will gather for an important moment in the city’s history.

The event will take place at BRCC’s Magnolia Performing Arts Theatre, 201 Community College Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. Members of the community are invited to join the event via livestream at tinyurl.com/EducationOnTheRiseBR. The stream will also be shared on the Facebook pages of the partners.

The leaders will participate in a panel discussion titled, “Education on the Rise: A Commitment to Growth and Progress,” to observe, highlight, and call attention to significant matters of education and community. The evening will also feature special remarks from Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, who along with MetroMorphosis and the 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge, is sponsoring the event.

“This is an important opportunity to hear from those who lead these vital institutions at this pivotal moment in time,” said Raymond A. Jetson, Chief Executive Catalyst at MetroMorphosis. “We expect to learn more about them, and their plans to drive progress and growth in education and beyond.”

Leaders will also speak to their continuing commitment to the Capital Area Promise, a collaborative effort launched in 2018 to increase college access and career readiness for students of the region.
