Baton Rouge, La – The Urban Leadership Development Initiative (ULDI) proudly announces the opening of applications for its landmark 10th Cohort, marking a decade of fostering impactful leadership within urban communities. Since its inception, ULDI has been at the forefront of cultivating leaders equipped to address the unique challenges facing communities of color in Baton Rouge.
Founded by Raymond Jetson, as an initiative of the social enterprise MetroMorphosis, ULDI emerged from a vision to bridge the gap between intention and action within community leadership. Recognizing the need for a specialized approach, Jetson envisioned a program that would equip leaders with essential skills and instill a commitment to remain and effect change within their communities.
“ULDI changed my life quite literally,” shares Sherreta Harrison, an alumni member and current Chief Executive Catalyst at MetroMorphosis. “It provided me with a language for the type of change I was trying to make… It shifted the way I approached work and ultimately changed lives.”
Over the past decade, ULDI has evolved into a comprehensive year-long program, combining a rigorous curriculum with hands-on experiences. To date, over 100 individuals have engaged in thoughtful dialogue, interacted with dynamic guest speakers, and tackled real-world challenges, emerging as adept leaders ready to drive meaningful change.
“The impact of ULDI extends far beyond individual careers,” notes Jetson. “It’s about fostering a network of change agents committed to addressing systemic issues and building stronger, more resilient communities.”
With a focus on adaptive leadership, ULDI emphasizes the importance of addressing persistent challenges through innovative problem-solving, community engagement, and coalition-building. Alums of the program have gone on to assume leadership positions across various sectors, leaving an indelible mark on Baton Rouge.
Applications for the 10th Cohort of ULDI are now open, welcoming individuals passionate about effecting positive change in urban communities. Prospective fellows are encouraged to apply and join a legacy of leadership aimed at transforming lives and shaping futures.
